Fall Stillwater? Yes!

With the Fall season upon us, most fly anglers are turning their attention to chasing migratory fish. While this can be a worthwhile endeavor, crowded rivers, low fish numbers, and a whole lot of questionable river etiquette are the reality. My fall focus: stillwater.

There is always so much space on a lake in the fall. I can go wherever I please without ever seeing another angler. Our area stillwaters are world class fisheries with the average trout measuring about 22 inches. One of my favorite approaches to fish stillwater has become the kayak.

Our sister shop, Pikes Peak Outfitter, is the local authority on fishing kayaks and they really have changed the game in how we fish lakes as fly fisherman.

This season we launched our guided kayak fly fishing trips. This is something totally unique to the state in the realm of fly fishing. We still have a good deal of time to fish our lakes.

As we head into the beautiful late September and October season, let one of our professional guides show you the ropes of fly fishing our area lakes.
