Step 1 - The Adventure Starts Here |
DISCOVER FLY FISHING - $20
This is our first step,
introduction to fly fishing class. If you’re
getting started in fly fishing, this is the class for you! This Fly
Fishing Basics Class teaches the beginning fly fisher the differences
between bait fishing and fly fishing, what to look for in rods and
reels, how to select the right line, leader and fly, basic fishing
knots, basic entomology, fish
habits, proper catch and release techniques and river safety. This class give you a great
overview of the sport and is the first step before our other classes.
Class meets at Angler's Covey starting at 6:00pm

Step 2 - The Next Step |
| CASTING - $20
Learn the basic overhead cast, roll cast, shooting line, how to load the
rod, handle the line and manage the fish. Also what conditions to use each
cast and there will have lots of time to practice with their rod and also
try out some other rods. Class meets at Anglers Covey.

PRIVATE CASTING - $30/hr
If the dates of the Casting class don’t work consider a private
lesson for only $30. Within a hour we can get you started or help you take
steps to improve your casting. You can schedule it anytime we are available, you will
cast on our ponds and you can split the lesson with a friend making the cost
only $20 each.

KNOTS
and RIGGING - $20
Getting past the struggle with knots can great improve your enjoyment of fly
fishing. This class will teach some basic knots and how they are used. We
will show you how to put together a leader that will help you catch more
fish with less effort. A great class for any angler
wanting to be more efficient on the river. Class is held at Angler's Covey
starting at 6:00pm

Step 3 - Now take it to the River |
STREAMSIDE INTRODUCTION CLASS - $60
This class is designed to take you from the classroom to the
river and introduce you to the dynamics of fly fishing. Three
experienced instructors, Neil Luehring, Mark Mahler, and Paul Martinez
will share in the opportunity to teach you about rigging your equipment,
basic entomology, safe wading techniques, reading the water, and putting
all of this together to fish the river.
The class meets at the Angler's Covey at 6:30 AM. Bring your rod and
reel and we'll help you build a leader system and get the items you will
need for the day. Then we'll proceed to the river and fish until 12:00
PM. You will need to provide your own transportation and equipment.
Rentals are available. Please sign up in advance. Class fees are $60,
please sign up at the shop.
This class is best taken after the Discover
Fly Fishing Class and a Casting Lesson, but if you have a good handle of
some of the basics of fly fishing and just want to take this to get some
good pointers then do not hesitate to sigh up.
Required Equipment
This class does require that you have you own equipment or you can rent
from Angler's Covey.

Additional Steps |
| ENTOMOLOGY - $25
Understanding the bug life in a stream is the key to catching more trout.
This class will go over different aquatic insects and their life cycle.
Class materials will be provided. It is highly recommended that students
also sign up for the Field Trip associated with this class.

ENTOMOLOGY FIELD TRIP-$45
 This
is an on-stream follow-up to the Entomology Class. Anglers will learn
techniques for collecting, identifying, preserving and curating aquatic
insects. Anglers will need a seine; all other class materials will be
provided. Class meets at Camp Alexander

TECHNICAL
ASPECTS OF CHEESMAN CANYON - $75 Head
Guide - Chris Ramos
Head
Guide, Chris Ramos, will present everything you need to know to
successfully fish Cheesman Canyon. This class was a sell-out last month
so Chris is offering it again for those that missed out.
Chris has fished
the canyon for over 15 years and is an expert in technical fishing.
In this class Chris will divulge the secrets to reading the water, the
history of the canyon, and technical casts. He will also explain
the techniques to sight fishing. This two-part class will be
offered October 15th - in-store presentation at Angler's Covey & October
17th - 3-hour instructional trip in Cheesman Canyon. This class is
not for beginners, but if you want to learn first-hand from the pro,
this class is for you.

What to Bring: Your own (or rental) equipment, waders and flies
and current Colorado Fishing License.
