We have some great things in store for you! Please sign up ahead of time so we know that you're coming to these scheduled events. We send out more details to those who have registered as we get closer to each event.
From time to time, other fishing outings may arise so we highly recommend that you join us on FaceBook or our email list (contact Sharon@anglerscovey.com) to make sure you are notified of these promptly! Also, this is a great way to connect with others to carpool or caravan our events!
At Stargazers Theatre, 5:00 pm Doors Open
Join us for fly fishing films taken around the globe that get you excited about getting on the river! Plus a live guide auction, raffle, cash bar (beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks), and food. This event is a benefit for Project Healing Waters. $12 discount tickets at the Angler's Covey and Royal Gorge Anglers, $15 ONLINE or at the door.
Pueblo, All Day!
Join us for fun winter fishing on the Arkansas River in Pueblo! Due to the colder winter temps, Pueblo is a great place to go and wet your line. There are certainly some additional challenges - staying warm, iced up guides, fewer bugs - but it's better than staying home and just THINKING about fishing! So ladies, layer up and join us! Please note: we recommend that more experienced anglers join us for this one.
Angler’s Covey, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This is Angler's Covey's kick-off to the season. We start with doorbusters and giveaways, have special presentations, a huge sale, drawings and more! There is no cost, so plan to join us for the fun and learning.
Location to be determined based on conditions
Mark your calendars and reserve the day to go fishing with your PPWA friends! We will hit some local waters with the location dependent on what is fishing well at that time. Plan to leave in the morning, pack a lunch, and return late afternoon. We will carpool from Angler's Covey.
Angler’s Covey, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Bring your own drinks and snacks and join us for a special happy hour to kick off the spring and summer fly fishing season! Come see old friends, meet new ones, and talk about your fly fishing adventures past and those to come. This is also a great time to get your license, ask questions of where to go, what gear to use or upgrade to, plus we'll share new products – anything to help you have a fantastic season of fishing!
Navajo Dam, New Mexico
Leave Wednesday night; Return Saturday (or stay the weekend!)
The San Juan River is a favorite of many anglers. The trout are generally more plentiful and larger than many other locations and you can float or wade. That doesn’t mean the fishing is easy, however! You will need to bring all of your gear (waders, flies, rod/reel, etc.) and you will choose where to fish for the weekend. A local Durango guide service, such as Fisheads, is a great option to get further information as to fly selection and suggestions of where to fish. You are on your own for lodging, but we recommend reserving a spot at Fishheads San Juan River Lodge - but it's filling up fast! Mark your calendar and join us for this adventure!
Memorial Park's Prospect Lake, All Day
Join us for a fun-filled day of adventure enjoying various outdoor recreation opportunities hosted by Colorado Parks & Wildlife. Pikes Peak Outfitter will have our kayaks and stand-up paddle boards and Angler's Covey will have flyf fishing 101 on site.
North slope - Crystal, South Catamount or North Catamount - TBD
Pikes Peak boasts some of the most pristine stillwater around. Fishing from a float tube or boat is recommended, although shore fishing can also be fun. We're timing this trip shortly after our women's float tube class so you can learn some skills and then put them to use. Or, you can rent a Hobie fishing kayak from Pikes Peak Outfitter!
6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.(ish)
Experience a high altitude outdoor fly fishing experience this summer on the south slope of Pikes Peak! South Slope Recreation Area will open for its third season this year and they maintain limited use which makes the fishing usually pretty awesome. The trip includes plenty of hiking so good physical shape is required - the terrain can be challenging. Fishing is along the shoreline. Permits are required per vehicle due to limited parking and controlled access. Therefore, this PPWA trip is limited, first come first serve.
Little Cochetopa Creek
If you're looking for an adventure away from the crowds, small streams are the way to go! The fish may be smaller but they are often more plentiful and eager to take your dry fly. This trip will be a fun outing on a small stream not far from the Springs but a bit of a well-kept secret - SHHH!
7:00 am-3:00 pm in Wildcat Canyon
Join us for a fun adventure on the South Platte in Wildcat Canyon! We will meet up at the cabin of one of our leaders in Sportsman’s Paradise and then head into the canyon. This is a beautiful section of the South Platte which is challenging for the general public to access. We’ll fish until noon, head back to the cabin for lunch, then fish some more!
We're still working on this one, ladies, but this is a fall trip in beautiful Wyoming. It will be a guided float trip, with lodging, so save your pennies! Details to come.
Saturday, October 7th
Leave Angerl's Covey at 9:30 a.m.
Join us for a fall small stream trip on Beaver Creek! Enjoy the changing colors and the fiesty trout. The drive alone, if we've timed it right, makes the trip worthwhile with all of the gorgeous golden aspens against the crystal blue sky. Pack a lunch and plan on a fun day!
Pueblo, All Day!
Join us for fun fall fishing on the Arkansas River in Pueblo! Due to the crisp fall temps, Pueblo is a great place to go and wet your line since its warmer than our other local water. So ladies, layer up and join us!
