Partners with the Future
Helping kids; can there be any greater investment than to teach a child? This is exactly why several people have come together to help the BSA Camp Alexander develop resources and programs to help kids discover life. Last year the Boy Scouts, Angler's Covey, US Forest Service and local enthusiasts came together to create a vision for the development of resources to help Camp Alexander meet the needs of various programs. A stream property committee was formed to provide assistance in planning the future of the 52 acres along the South Platte River. The two priorities of the committee are a stream restoration project and managing the Fly Fishing Merit Badge program this summer.  The Boy Scout Camp at Camp Alexander is in full swing with its summer camps. Last year was a great success and we want to thank all the volunteers that helped us. This year again we will be helping with the BSA Fly Fishing Merit Badge Program. It will be limited to 12 Scouts each week, 13 years or older, and will be offered for eight weeks of camp starting June 14th.

Can You HELP?

We are looking for volunteers to help in our efforts to provide a quality experience for the scouts attending. Each Day starts at 8:45am, meeting at the new pavilion, and will end at 11:45am.

Because of the detail involved with the BSA Fly Fishing Merit Badge we have divided the merit badge activity into five units:

1. Introduction to Fly Fishing (Monday)
2. Fly Tying (Split Tuesday and Wednesday)
3. Casting Instruction/ Entomology (Split Tuesday and Wednesday)
4. Streamer/Lake Fishing (Thursday) (Change)
5. Nymphing and Dry Fly Fishing (Friday)(Change)

We are looking for volunteers to help Tuesday and Wednesday teaching Fly Tying, Casting. This done in groups of 6 or less. We also can use help on Fridays helping with the on-stream session Nymphing and Dry Fly Fishing with our guides.

You can volunteer for just one day this summer or for one day every week. We are trying to be flexible to be able to get the most participation.
You do not have to be an expert angler.
We want to pass on the skills to this next generation but we also want to pass on the passion and enjoyment that comes from the sport.
