Rod description:
This rod is a (2)two piece, (2)two tip, 7 foot 9 inch, 4 weight rod. The rod is made with flamed cane
for a slightly faster action and improved resiliency, blued hardware to help reduce flash, nicely
figured, sculpted, black walnut reel seat and antique gold guide wraps. All parts of the rod with the
exception of the guides, are handcrafted by Randy

The rod is designed with a slightly swelled butt. This adds power when landing big fish, speeds up
the action a bit and helps balance the rod giving it a lighter feel in the hand.

Randy recommends a 4 weight double taper line, but the rod works well with a weighted forward 5
for close in applications.

The action is what he would consider to be medium to medium fast. It allows the angler to throw
very tight loops with high line speed and great accuracy, but, it is also easy to open up the loop for
hopper dropper type fishing with a slight tempo change in the casting stroke.

It is a superb, small fly/dry fly rod but will also throw nymphs and large dries when needed. It is a
very well rounded fly rod.

This rod is ideally suited to waters like the South Platte but it is Randy's favorite rod for small
stream pocket water fishing.
