Waterdog Lakes are located just before Monarch Pass off highway 50. Most anglers carry a float-tube because the shoreline is heaveied weeded making it tough to fish from shore. The hike to lower Waterdog Lake is about 2 miles. It holds Cutthroats and is a perfect lake to make a day trip to.
The lake sits at about 11,400' and ice can be found on the lake until late June.
