East River - Almont

 The East River around Almont is a freestone river and has great Kokanee Salmon fishing in the fall when they run up from Blue Mesa Reservoir to spawn. The East is also one of the most underrated trout fisheries in the state. With miles of fishing access above the town of Almont you can find complete solitude and great fishing. Watch your step because wading most freestone rivers can be treacherous, especially during runoff or high flows.
