The Taylor River is known for having highly educated and tough to catch large rainbows and browns. The quarter-mile catch and release section is a great place to fish mysis shrimp and midge patterns. Those anglers brave enough to fish in extreme cold during the winter are rewarded with more solitude and ample opportunities to land a trophy fish. From June-October easy access is available over Cottonwood Pass or you can take the southern route through the town of Gunnison and then Almont via Highway 135 and then County Road 742.
