And we have an added bonus.  On Saturday, December 8, many of our Guides will be at our Open House on the sales floor to answer questions, share their views, and talk about their fly fishing passion. The Simms Downstream Jacket is a crucial piece of the layering system and a must have for the fisher person who will be fishing during the winter. It’s a goose down/Primaloft synthetic jacket that is toasty warm and super comfy. I didn’t have one for the first cold front and I paid for it. Now I have one, and I can be sure that the cold won’t slow me down. Paired with a Simms G4 jacket, that’s all you will need to be prepared for any type of weather.

The Abel nipperis the gift I’d suggest. The nipper is one of the most frequently used tools when you are out on the river. So why not spend a little more money on something that is quality and going to last and perform? These nippers are extremely sharp -- as well as sharp-looking. These nippers cut your line like a samurai sword. The durability is outstanding from the paint to the sharpness of the blades. The best advantage to having sharp nippers is the fact that you no longer have flat ends on your tippet. One of my favorite features is the eye cleaner. Abel designs the cleaner so it is tucked away – it won’t get get bent ever again. The eye cleaner is just as sharp as the blades, so this makes cleaning out those tiny fly's eyes very easy. The nipper comes with a 2-year warranty on the blades. One accessory that I would recommend getting to go along with the Abel Nipper is the Abel zingerto keep that nipper from going anywhere.  The nippers start at $85 (solid colors) and go all the way up to $165 (Trout Print). If you’re looking for gift for the hard-to-buy-for-fisherman who already has everything, this is it! It makes a great stocking suffer as well.

The Simms Backsaver Wading Beltis exactly what the name entails. It has saved my back for over six years now. I feel much less fatigued after a day on the water when I wear it. Bonus: it has the perfect opening on the brace to hold my fishpond El Jefe net firmly in place -- even in those notorious South Park winds.

One of our newest additions to the shop, the all new Kuhl Akkomplice base layer for women, is definitely turning heads. These are incredibly soft and comfortable to wear all day. Technical features like flat lock seams and strategically placed mesh venting make this one of the best base layers ever created.

The handmade jewelry from Nature Cast Metalworks (pictured below, left) is truly inspired by nature. This Montana-based company designs, manufactures, and distributes sterling silver and mixed metal hypo-allergenic pieces sure to bring a smile to the lucky recipient! Two of the best things in the world are buying Nature Cast jewelry and getting out and enjoying the great outdoors.  We suggest you do both today!

These handmade leather bracelets (pictured above, right) from Sightline Provisionsare not only sharp and sleek, but they are intended to be a little reminder of your recreational passions that keep you connected with the outdoors. With versatility every bracelet, these make a perfect gift for anyone who is addicted to the outdoors.

The Orvis Pro Wading jacket:  I picked this wading jacket up this past spring and absolutely love it.  The day after I purchased this jacket, I went fishing on the Davidson River in North Carolina in a major rain storm mixed with some snow. I stayed warm and dry through it all.  This jacket made many trips with me this summer, rainy Alaska being one of them. Again, no issues.  I like its lightweight and packability. In Alaska, I layered underneath the jacket and still had plenty of free movement in my arms and shoulders for casting and fighting larger Arctic Char and Salmon. Finally, I love the price point -- much cheaper than leading competitors.

I love the new Simms G-3 felt boots with studs. I haven’t slipped at all in them!!! They’re great!!

I’ve been in the Simms G-3 for a little over a year. It’s the most well-built and comfortable wading boot I’ve ever owned: sturdy, stable, and easy to get on and off. My boots are in great shape with 200 days already on them.

Open House will run from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Swing by the shop for cookies, cider, great deals, and a fun atmosphere!
