Jon Easdon

Jon Easdon, Angler's Covey's Director of Services, is a Colorado native hailing from Leadville, Colorado. He has been fishing all around the state his entire life. A true outdoorsman that loves the mountains, he enjoys sharing the love and passion of fly fishing with others. From first descents on his snowboard, to showing up to the river for a huge hatch, he has the ability to really encompass what it means to "be outside".

One of his favorite things about fly fishing is that one can never stop learning. He enjoys all aspects of fly fishing from tying, dry fly fishing, nymphing, to high alpine excursions deep in the mountains. His love for this is contagious and you are sure to get the bug after a day on the water with him.

While the majority of anglers think that 11 mile canyon is the only good water in the area, that is definitely not the case. We have TONS of options that can be extremely rewarding in our area.

“I love exploring new water. Whether it be for the first time ever, or the first time that season, I love to mix it up. I feel like a kid on Christmas every time I go out on the water. There are many times I cannot sleep the night before because of the potential that the next day holds.”

Jon enjoys guiding on some of our areas most technical waters. It offers a very rewarding experience for both the guide and the angler, but can often bring a humbling experience as well.  “You never know what to expect in technical water. It changes daily. It can chase you away or you can have a day of a lifetime. You show up with all of the knowledge and have to put it all to work. So much fun!”

Jon is also an aspiring photographer/videographer that is working on a large project through his fishing film business, Hookset. Keep an eye out for a short film dropping soon!

Here are some Orvis reviews for Jon Easdon:

"Thank You Angler Covey for partnering with such professional guides like Jon Easdon. Jon & I met early at the shop and headed off to fish the Cheesman canyon. This is a beautiful piece of water that I recommend to any fly fisherman that love technical, challenging, adventures. It is a bit of a hike in and out, but OH SO Worth the burn! Jon admits himself to be a little OCD about checking and changing flies, till you get action. Because of his experience, his patients, and his tenacity, He will put you on the fish. I had several hook ups brought to hand, and several more very large fish that I wasn't as successful to land. I will be remembering this trip for a very long time thanks to my great guide."

"I got my boyfriend a 1/2 day fly fishing guided trip from Angler's as a Christmas present. Let's just say this may have been the best present of all time. Simply put - the trip was above and beyond what we expected. We were first time fly-fishers but we are adventurous people so we wanted a hands-on experience with the immediate opportunity to actually fish. We wanted to learn as we went and get help along the way. Well, we got exactly what we wanted. Jon was our guide and I will forever recommend him to anyone doing any sort of fly fishing in Colorado. He was SO knowledgeable, he was SO instructional, he was SO fun, and we got to be in the water fishing the entire time. Literally, within 5 minutes of getting there we were in the water with poles in our hands. He let us learn as we went and helped us along the way. We netted 4 fish in just the few hours we were out there!! We technically caught 10 fish but a few of them got away. It was a pretty incredible experience - one that I will recommend forever! Thank you to both Angler's and Jon - the best fly fishing instructor of all time."
